Also known as ‘squash’ peppers and often mistaken for a Scotch Bonnet, the fruit of Mushroom chillies are a very distinctive blocky in shape with sloping sides, somewhat like a top.
Mushroom Red is a particularly hot version of the mushroom chillies, reaching an outstanding 76,000 SHUs. The fruit start green (like all mushroom chillies) and ripen, surprisingly, to a red. They are thin fleshed and about 3.8 to 4.5cm wide and 2.8 to 3.5cm long.
The plants are a manageable 70cm tall with a spread of about 70cm when grown in 10 litre pots.
