Bolthardy is an older variety of beetroot that has proven its worth over the years. It is both early and bolt-resistant, producing globe shaped roots with a deep burgundy colour. Sow in modules under cover beginning in March, then transplant when the roots of the seedlings fill the cell. Alternatively, direct seed outside beginning in late March to early April. For continuity of supply, make monthly sowings until July.
