Capsicum chinense
Seed type: OP
Dorset Naga, measuring 1,032,310 SHU in a 2009 trial, is one of the hottest chillies in the world. Its scorching heat is combined with a distinctive fruity flavour, making it an incredible eating experience.
The wrinkled, wedge-shaped fruit ripen from green to red, and can be harvested at either stage of maturity. They can be up to 2 to 3 cm wide at the shoulders and 4 to 5 cm long, and are produced on large, late maturing plants that need plenty of space to grow. When grown in pots the fruit can be a lot smaller.
Please note: Dorset Naga is not an easy chilli to grow, and novices may be disappointed with their results. There are two particular times in the plants' development – germination and fruit set – that require special attention. Instructions are sent with all packs of Dorset Naga, and we strongly recommend that they are followed.
Sea Spring Seeds is the only authorised seller of Dorset Naga. The seeds are harvested from plants produced and grown by us in Dorset. To ensure seed quality, the germination is tested by a DEFRA-approved Official Seed Testing Station (OSTS).
